The company was founded in 1898 by Gottlieb Gühring. From the beginning highest quality was of upmost importance and this paid off. A continuous programme of development followed, only interrupted by world wars and international economic crisis. In 1945 Gühring had to start from nothing again due to the effects of World War Two.

Today, Gühring is one of the largest manufacturers of rotary cutting tools.
Sales are virtually equally divided amongst the following industries:

• Automotive and aerospace industry as well as their subcontractors
• Machine production (key word: original equipment)
• General trade distribution
